I hear some rumors about an upcoming version of the Eric Johnson Strat with a rosewood board. Can anyone verify these? If true is there an anticipated delivery date?

I love my EJ Strat, purchased when they first hit the street. I've been thinking about a rosewood board Strat lately, but may hold off now if there's any truth to this rumor.

Can't say I've heard that rumor. I'm not sure I'd believe it. I mean the guitar was designed by Eric and Fender. If Fender comes out with a rosewood model it wouldn't be the EJ strat anymore would it? The rosewood isn't in Eric's specs. I guess if Eric signs off on it they'd do it.

I love my EJ just the way it is.

I have also heard this rumor, can't verify if it's true. If it is, maybe there will also be some new colors.

As I heard it...

EJ's guitar tech is the origin of the rumor and EJ has been playing prototypes on stage.

New colors? Yes, apparently a gold (Shoreline or Aztec) and who knows what else.

Again, pure speculation at this point hough the source is credible.

Either way, I'll stick to my maple necked EJ. By far the finest strat I've ever played.

My maple neck sunburst EJ isn't going anywhere either and I agree, the best Strat I've ever played.

I've been thinking about picking up a rosewood board Strat of late and was thinking about the AV 62, but if there's an EJ on the horizon that offers the kind of features my current EJ possesses then I just might exercise some patience.

My EJ has cured my GAS, I put my ES335 into it's case for now, I won't sell the ES but the EJ plays like butter and has more tone than any other guitar I have played including the ES and a 2600 PRS I played at the guitar shop. The EJ is my 3rd Strat, and 4th Fender overall, the EJ is so much nicer it's hard to put into words, if you ever have the chance play an EJ through one of the tube amps. I can't imagine havine rosewood would make it better.
