I recently had a guitar tech set up my MIM Strat and switch out the bridge humbucker for a single coil. The bridge pickup is now uneven, meaning one end of the pickup is much lower than the other end. Is this common? I'm sure the guitar tech knows whats was going on. The thing sounds fine... I just thought it looked odd. Thanks!!

Bass side should be a bit lower. Not unusual. 8) Mike

'Ain't got a single axe with any level pickups. Tilted and string polepieces all different heights.

Techs usually know the best gaugues / settings / heights for given guitars.

hmm... maybe where you live, but due to many bad experiences, I no longer trust my guitars into anyone else's hands as far as setups/repair work.

It's a shame that competent techs are forced to endure bad raps on account of situations like the above. Even in my area, NY City, I wouldn't trust 90% of those who call themselves, "techs" to even put one of my guitars in its case without screwing it up somehow.

Yep like others said it 's nomal. The humbucker was a different story.
