Ok yes I am a newbie so feel free to poke...

Question I purchased a Powerhouse and it has a 9v battery holder in the back of the guitar. It has a small red light. Light only seems to go on for a second when I place the battery in.
Q: When is the red light supposed to go on? I have yet to see it go on steady.

THANK YOU for any assistance.

very little info on line about the model (no longer in production)

I think it comes on when the battery is low.

Although, I have had one for over a year and have never seen the light come on

Welcome!

It's only supposed to go on for a second, acknowledging the battery is now connected. When it begins to flash and then ultimately stay on, that means that the battery needs to be changed.

Hi 200mph: don't worry, it isn't really that kind of crowd here. And welcome to the Forum, by the way.

Well, you can find some info at at least on this page:

http://www.fender.com/support/wiring_di ... _lists.php

Scroll down till you find the (Deluxe?) Powerhouse Strat. There's wiring and switching diagrams and a parts list.

From memory I think the battery in the Powerhouse is there to power a midboost controlled from the second tone knob, is that right?

I have a minor phobia regarding batteries in guitars so I don't know about your red light. But there's several people who run midboosts on this Forum, so I expect an answer will be along shortly.

Cheers - C

EDIT: oops - written simultaneously to Martian's post, above... where the answer was provided...

FYI: This was orignally the first Buddy Guy Signature Stratocaster. 12db midboost. It disappeared when Guy went to the Clapton electronics and then resurfaced as the Powerhouse...perhaps as Fender's answer to the EMG DG-20 or one of their other active prewireds.
