Help identifying old Strat!

So I heard back from my friend. it seems his older brother put the Fender decal on it, before he passed it down. So that was my mistake, I had thought it came with it on. :oops:

What Niki says sounds right.I think I may have confused a couple different guitars. I am trying to Email, my buddy with the Tokai, and see what he has to say. I haven't seen him in years, we live on different ends of the country now.

12B as you know my friend, Japanese guitar construction is confusing at best. I could fully believe that some guitars at the time came out of japan with a fender logo. I just cant imagine tokai doing it. The company is nearlyas old as fender. It started up in 47 and produced its first range of guitars (acoustic) in 62. You'll see em in everything from TV's to effects pedals and kitchen appliances.

Ya Niki, you are definitely right. I contacted him, and he said his brother, and he put the fender decal on it. I guess I just assumed that it had come like that.(and we all know if you assume you make an $@! out of Uma Thurman,) I had thought that for like 20 years, so I guess somehow it never crossed my mind that they had done that, since I never would have.

I have seen about 10 Tokai's in my life, 3 or 4 strat copies, 2 breezy sound Tele copies, and a handful of Love Rock Lp copies. All were fine guitars. i would even say they were on par with what they were emulating. They were fine guitar builders. Are they still going?

They are still going strong. They have a korean plant producing budget guitars. Their Japanese plant produces their creme de la creme. Their love rock gibson copies are pretty much all they sell over here from the japan plant. Luckily they are astounding guitars. Utterly stunning.
Its pretty well known that i dont get on too well with LP's. I tried a freinds 58 goldtop loverock that he had relic'd and turned into a gibson clone.
I offered him my customshop strat and a marshall for it. Luckily he didnt take it, then told me its a forgery/fake. My reply 'ok so just the strat for it then'. I really couldnt tell by playability(or looks) that it wasnt a gibson.

They do explorers, V's, SG's the lot.
