I just wanted to say a little more about the MARK KNOPFLER SIG STRAT, LETS face it mark knopfler probably as popularity goes isnt as appealing as SRV ,EC,EJ OR EVEN JEFF BECK,MAYBE THATS WHY HIS SIG STRAT IS SO OVER LOOKED,I myself do not listen to dire straits or mark knopfler , but after spending weeks trying out all these different sig strats about to spend $$$$$ I WANTED MY MONEYS WORTH.I FOUND IN MY AREA IT WAS DIFFICULT TO FIND A MUSIC STORE THAT HAD ONE IN STOCK,SO HOW I EXPLAINED BEFORE THE LA CK OF MARKS POPULARITY IS WHY MOST PLACES DONT CARRY THEM, WHEN IT ARRIVED THE MUSIC STORE I DEALT WITH WERE AMAZED ON HOW BEAUTIFUL IT WAS AND HOW GREAT IT PLAYED AND SOUNDED WITH THAT LIGHT ASH BODY,IN MY OPINION ITS THE BEST LOOKING SIG STRAT FENDER OFFERS GREAT VINTAGE LOOKS, NITRO FINISH MEDIUM JUMBO FRETS TEXAS SPECIALS,ITS GOT IT ALL YOU GOTTA CONSIDER TRYING ONE(SORRY ABOUT MY CAP BUTTON)

good point, ZZ. my bad. they're not worth my time.

A postscript to my previous reply is as follows: Years ago I could do what many of them are presently doing, as well or perhaps better. Time and tide have had there way with that. However....none of them can ever do what I've been doing for the past 35 years. ever!.

It's a sobering equalizer to say the least.

I actually like the Artist Series. It gives options not available on other strats.I must admit it was my admiration for SRV that lead me to play the SRV strat. But then again , i also played the Clapton strat and the EJ.I ended up buying the SRV because i liked the tone , i really like the 12 inch radius and i think to look at it , it is a gorgious guitar. At first i couldnt get past the pickguard, but they are so simple to change.I would just try as many guitars as you can and one of them will speak to you.It might suprise you as to which one.I was all set on the Clapton, but when i played it , it didnt speak to me, the SRV did.

That's why the company has such a diverse offering. Different strokes. I've been playing Strats since 1958. I presently own an '89 Clapton, an '08 Gilmour, and an '08 FSR VG. I personally feel that my '89 Clapton neck is best for my playing style. I was never comfortable with that SRV, but thats what 'different strokes' is all about. You gets what you play for.
