Hi everyone. I am looking for an EC Signature Strat and I have a question. I noticed that some of the black strats have "Blackie" under the signature and others don't. I've come across this in several year models (with Lace Sensors and with VN P-ups). Does it make any difference in the guitar whether or not it has "blackie" under Eric Clapton's signature?

Thanks,

Joe

Saw one at the local Fender dealer yesterday priced at $1349... I suspect that's a pretty good price.... Happy hunting!

Hi Joe,
Im not sure about the "Blackie" (as far a s being somthing official) I bet somebody here will be able to tell us about that. As far as the Clapton Strat goes though, I can tell you that I am 100% satisfied with mine. I have a 2008 Black with the vintage noiseless pups. If I were to own only one Strat, this would be it
Good Luck in your search
Bill

All of the Clapton artist series that I have seen that are Black in color have the "Blackie" sticker on the head stock, the other colors don't.

i just Got back from Guitar center and played a Pewter blackie it was on sale for $1,800.. i dont like the idea of blackie on a gray.. there was 3 versions of that strat ...signature/blackie/custom shop.. both signature and blackie have the same spec's but i think the regular signature is discontinued since no music store have em up on their site's

im thinking of buying another Clapton strat
but if i had to rate them from 1-10 i would say mine is a 10 and new one is a 8. ...

but since its not a 10 i might just buy a usa jackson with a floyd rose.
but if you want a really good strat, thats good choice..
try looking on ebay for a 88 to early 90's

The Artist series guitars have always had the signature on the face of the headstock. The Custom Shop version has it on the back. The Masterbuilt version may not have it at all. When the black guitar was first introduced the word "BLACKIE" printed under the signature. Any variability in this is of first time knowledge to me and might best be answered by Fender Consumer Relations. It may have to do with the creation of the "Tribute" guitar in 2006.

Eric's stage guitars no longer sport his signature, something he requested years ago.

Personally, I would do without the word "BLACKIE" in a heartbeark.
