Hey all.

I have a 2006 mim strat hss. I was wondering if these guitars are routed hsh or just hss? Thanks in advance.

Hi bigreno: the mostly seem to be, yes. But next time you change your strings it's easy-peasy to just unscrew the pickguard and take a look to be certain...

HSS -- I just routed a similar MIM Std body to allow putting a full-size humbucker in the neck poistion in a project Strat. It was pretty easy to do, though.

It is pretty easy to do. I did not even use a router. Home Depot sells a drill bit for doing wood routing (for around $3). It grinds the wood away quite easily. So I put this bit into my electric drill and went to town. About 5 minutes and a pile of sawdust later, it was all done. All ready for a full-size humbucker in a matter of minutes.

Just reread my previous post (above) and realise it doesn't actually answer the question at all.

Dozy idiot! In my defence, it was after 2.00 am in my part of the world when I wrote that and my enthusiasm seems to have outstripped my coherence...

To be clear: a lot of MIMs I've seen have an HSH route. However, 01GT eibach's photo shows that is not to be relied upon.

'Fraid you are going to have to look to be certain.

Which after all that doesn't help very much, does it?

Cheers - C
