I thought it was easy, as well. I just go by what my Owners Manual says.

However, apparently there are more than one answer to this one, depending on the Owners Manual that you use. At least that's what I gathered from the earlier posts here.

If Mike dosen't want to answer, since it's a novice question, No big deal to me.

All in all, it dosen't really matter to me at all, but the apparent contradiction is interesting..

Personally, I don't think it matters much.
I don't recall seeing anything in the vintage diagrams even explaining it, but there may be.

Traditionally, I think people have referred to the bridge pickup as #1.

In times like these, I tend to look at WWHD?

Even with the guitar upside down it still begs the question. Hendrix would likely rewire the guitar and start out from scratch. Simply a unique solution to the Kobiyashi Maru scenario. 8)
