Oh boy, another tuners thread. I'll be searching past posts here for some answers, but also want the latest perspectives on best tuners for my Warmoth Strat project. Got it all nailed down 'cept the tuners...they should probably be locking and chrome, other than that, I don't know. Exciting details on rest of guitar:

neck: Warmoth sixties headstock, gloss finish
neck profile: standard C
nut: 1 3/4" Earvana
Radius: 10" to 16" compound
fingerboard: Ebony with pearl dots
frets: stainless medium jumbo
tuners: ??????????????????
stings: 10 - 46

pickups: Fralin Vintage Hot single coils, reverse wound middle pup
wiring: One volume, no tones. No five way switch, just 3 mini-toggles for
on/off operation of each pickup.
bridge: Gotoh 401, 2-point chrome with steel sustain block (I like my Gotoh vs100
but it has a cast zinc block).
body: Warmoth 2-piece swamp ash
body color: sonic blue (I finally decided to go solid color instead of stain
and clear coat cuz it's just so Fenderish...whimsical).
pickguard: white/black/white

Added up, it'll cost about the same as a new American Stratocaster. Quality'll be at least as good, and it'll be just the way I want it....reeeaaal
Stratty! Not everyone's cup of tea. Just gotta ebay a couple of goodies and get started with the pickguard and pup wiring. Then I'll ebay my Strat and order the rest of the parts.

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz......hey, hey, you dozed off there....any input on tuners is welcome now that I've bored you to sleep with my selfish plans.

He was asking about tuning machines.

I'm a fan of the vintage Fender style tuners as well as locking ones. I guess it depends on if you want a vintage or modern look. Some nice Sperzels would be a nice locking tuner. I had the Planet Waves Auto Trim tuners on my old MIM and I wasn't to crazy about them.

The tuners Big Jay mentioned are great. String changes are a breeze. I'd highly recommend them. 8) Mike

Another vote on the Fender/Schaller "F" locking tunners. I love mine. Next one I would recommend would be Fender vintage style tunners.

Siamese I have to agree with Big Jay. I have a set on my Am Dlx and I just put a new set on my new warmoth neck as well. They are great tuners.
