I have a 91 American Strat. I was wondering if any of you experts out there could help me identify the finish color of my guitar. I believe it's Midnight Blue, but I've seen some MIM strats, and teles in Midnight Blue, and they look a little different to me. I've been told that Fender USA didn't make a MNB American Standard, but I swear I saw one in a Fender catalog that I used to drool over from that time when I was a kid. Ive been told that some American std models from the 90's had Brazilian rosewood fret boards. Is this true? Also is there a way I could learn more about my guitar with the serial number other than the year it was made? I bought the guitar used in 1996, and it's been my main guitar ever since. I actually plan on being buried with it when I die haha, if that's legally possible! Any help would be great. Side note. I added the Lace Sensors about a year after I bought it.

I'm pretty sure it was called Midnight Blue. I remember back then (in 91-92 I was looking at MIM and MIA strats) the Am Std blue was called midnight blue. At least that's what I remember all the dealers referring to it as.

Color - #573 MB, discontinued Jan 02. I have a 98' Vint trem/frets and Pau Ferro fb. Craftsmanship is unparalleled, really an incredible piece of Fender history. Perfect in every way. It's weird how an inanimate object can create the feelings I have for it. She's the belle of the Ball. Hope you enjoy yours as well. I believe there were some that had the Brazil board, I may have seen one, just can't remember where, Senility is a &%#*^

How can I tell If the FB is Pau ferro or Rosewood? The grain isn't crazy enough to be Brazilian.

It's really not about the grain being crazy, there are many variations. And I believe your answers lie here:

Check neck woods....

Good luck!
