Hello fellow strat lovers, I posted awhile back asking if anyone knew what type of strat body I had purchased...it was all beat up, bad homemade relic etc..

Did you get an answer to what type of body it is?

That looks like the body of an American '57 Vintage Reissue ... it's got the 8 screw pickguard pattern, the vintage "nail holes," and the "worm" routing.

Or did you add those nail holes? Looking at the pictures again, the early pictures don't seem to have them!

I could easily be misremembering, but didn't we establish on an earlier thread about this guitar that it was a Mexican Classic '50s? I'm sure I recall that the worm route is on the MIM Classics as well as the AVRIs. Haven't searched back for that thread though...

Cheers - C

Oh, maybe, because of all of the holes in the neck pocket. I don't keep track of all of the "what is this ..." threads either. How can anybody?

And now that I think about it, the American '57 Vintage Reissue is a regular production line and doesn't get the "nail holes" treatment. That is saved for the Custom Shop's Time Machine series ...

and with three you get egg rolls.
Give me a nice saag ghost, please.

jaqueline560: I used B-I-N shellac/primer (rattle can)

Heres the link again http://www.zinsser.com/product_detail.asp?ProductID=10

Krylons older spray paint is what you want-by older I mean the stuff in the can that looks like this:

Do not get the new Krylon spray paint, they look like this:

The new stuff is supposed to dry a whole 2 minutes faster, but they changed the formula to an enamel, not the greatest for guitars. The old formula is acrylic lacquer, and that's just what you want!

I started in with the clear coats today, everything is looking quite nice so far. I will post pics when I'm done with the nitro, just to show you how it looks before wetsanding.

orvilleowner: The nail holes were added by me....look at the pictures on the first page of this thread and you'll see.

Thanks for all the kind words, I will keep adding to this as I go along. 8)
