What do you mean "no such thin as a American standard in 2006"?

I mean that American Standard was used again starting in 2008. In 2006 the normal American Stratocaster was just called a American Series Stratocaster. There were several American Series Statocaster in 2006 such as American Deluxe, American Vintage, American Hot Rod, etc, however "American Standard" was not one of them. That restarted in 2008.

That is not a highway one body.2006 they had the thin nitrocellulose lacquer finish like now.I belive that was one of the 2006 upgrades.I was going to purchase one then but got a 2006 american standard strat with the 60th on back of headstock.Check out this link,it will provide you with the info.

I have a Highway One Strat with the 70s large headstock. I have taken the neck off and the pickupguard and the differences I see with those pics you posted are: 1. My highway one does not have a tilt neck hole on the heel of the neck, no hole routed out or drilled out on the wood like what is pictured. 2. The body of my highway one is of a matt finish, mine is the sunburst color, and the pickup cavities are routed out for s/s/h. Perhaps, you should call Fender and give them the serial number. They can tell you exactly what that guitar is.

Definately parts pieced together. The body code begins 0062, the neck code begins 0077. I cant make out much after those numbers but they should be identical.

At one of my favorite "parts" retailers, a new Highway One neck sells for $75 less than an American Standard neck.

The tuners are pretty close. So the OP wasn't ripped off too badly.

The major difference is the AS neck has the Biflex truss rod, the H1 neck doesn't.

i have a 2006 highway one hss and the after looking at your pics, your neck is def a highway one.

same with the finish, as well. buying on ebay or craigs is fishy, if you still get your guitars from ebay i would ask the seller to take apart the guitar and take photos of the electronics, and markings on the body or neck. if he refuses dont waste your time with him.

your guitar is nice, but yeah def not what he wrote it as. maybe he bought it like that and found out later that he got ripped and therefore did the same?

But the American Series Strat is the equivalent of the American Standard, I assume?

Yeah, they are basically the same as in plain Jane American Strat.

Surely, this is a most logical solution which removes all doubt. However, there are many legitimate sellers (and players for that matter) who would never attempt to disassemble and reassemble a guitar even if their lives depended on it. And then, there's another huge school of thought that postulate once a guitar is taken apart, it will never be the same instrument again. So, just because a person balks at the idea, it could very well be, but it does not necessarily follow that (s)he is attempting to hide something.

The bottom line is, if you have doubts, simply move on.

Did they produce Highway one 60th anniversary in 2006? If my neck is from highway one with 60th anni emblem then that must be true however, I can't find the link to the 60th highway one anywhere (yet).

Thanks guys

The neck has a micro-tilt. Could you get that on a Highway 1? The machines are staggered, too. Those could be dropped in but...why?

I put a Hwy 1 neck on an AmStd body with microtilt. The neck has a steel dowel at the base of the truss in the heel that lines up perfectly with the microtilt screw in the body. So I assume I can make it work, but I dont think the Hwy 1 comes with microtilt. Either way, its still a Hwy 1 neck....likely on an AmStd body.

The HWY 1 does not have the micro-tilt feature. But its neck seems to be constructed in a similar enough way to the AmStd that the micro-tilt will work with it on an AmStd body.
