I know that this may ve the wrong forum but the fender amps forum didn't feel right either+a get lots of answers here.
I got home a Bas amplifier that was broken. I fixed it and played a "low" brand telecaster trough it. It sounded really good. Even betterthen several 1000+ dollar strats i played. I tryed it with my cheap Ibanez to and it sounded real good also. I tryed to get that sound out of my Line 6 spider 2 but could'nt get clode. Even with the ten or so built in amps. Why is that? And ow can I get a guitar that always sounds like that? Maybe I should always use a bass amp and get some distortion pedals :D ? A cheap way for great tone.

That's why the 59 bassman became so popular amongst guitarists.

I suppose you could load up your line 6 with woofers and get a pretty close sound.

I wouldn't say it was the difference between a guitar amp and a bass amp.
More the difference between a hitech modeling amp trying to fake it and the real thing. :)

Go to a music shop and try out/compare a fender twin reverb to the line 6.

Or a mesa boogie if they have one. :P

There is quite a difference to the sound (and price) of a twin, than what comes out of a Line6.

What is the model of the bass amp you repaired that you like so much? I posted a similar question in this forum. I do not have a nice tube Bassman amp, but have been wondering about using my Rumble 100, which has a very clean sound, for guitar.

Since some pedals match better with different guitar/ amp combinations, I am considering what might work with my bass amp for my Strat.

A guitar through a bass amp will have a more heavy mellow tone, it's mostly because of the speakers (woofers), the highs will be cut out just alittle. It'll give your guitars bottom end alot of thump (hence for bass). It's just a heavier sound that's all.

Perfect for the blues.

The next time you see a gathering of blues artist at a concert or whatever (example: Crossroads festival), look on the stage, 80% of the amps lined up in the back are Fender Bassmans, or possibly some of them are boutique knockoffs of a Bassman, basically their all the same.

When I was in the market for an amp, it was the Bassman that I actually wanted. But it was well over a thousand bucks and put it way out of my budget. So I got the Hot Rod Deville 410 because it's the closest amp I could possibly get to a Bassman that has the 4x10 setup, the Bassman comes in at 50 watts, the Deville 60 watts. I guess I could put some Bassman speakers in it and be about as close as possible to that sound.

Is there any pickups that have about the same effect like the bassman for example. That cut's of the a highs little and gives a little "thump"?

i'm sure there are, heck you could probably do that just by angling your pickups away from the treble side - hot PUs also cut the treble a bit too iirc, but most of it is in the amp!

For me, as a bassist, I love to biamp my bass amp and an old marshall i own to get maximum range of tones from deep mass to crunchy highs - could be fun to do with guitar too. Experimenting is awesome :D

You might want to give this little baby a try. I have no experiences with it personally. But I've heard that it does pretty good.

I bought a Blues Deville 410 with the 4 X 10" speakers and this thing can wail. It's similiar to the bassman, but not as much low end and the highs don't cut off at the top. Almost too perfect for the blues..

I started a new thread today on the 85 and newer amp section and called it the 4x10 club.

you just cant get a better blues tone than with on e of the Fender 4x10 configurations.

I also use the route 66 pedal (compression only) to add even more sweetness to it, this is the most under rated pedal out there.
