I've gone that route before, but I still prefer the hardtail to the trem.

It took me over a year to find the exact hardtail (new) I was looking for, this Am. Std. sunburst/maple ('06):

I scored mine from onlinemusicandsound (their website's under construction right now) but be sure to check out some of the big retailers like matt umanov, manny's, gruhn guitars, etc.

Good luck! It may take a while, don't give up, "you'll get you some 'tail" ;)
