Ok Heres the Deal...I just got this Strat from my dad who purchased it at a garage sale for 150 dollars. :) As a proud owner of a Custom shop tele, a PRS, a Les Paul, and a Rickenbacker , I am totally impressed with this guitar. I keep hearing horror stories about the cost cutting jack plate and losing a tone knob and the infamous tremelo system....Guess what folks...the guitar plays and sounds Like a DREAM... I cant understand the bad rap and im reaching out to fellow 82-84 owners to reunite against this bad press...sure I know that when someone owns a guitar they always think its the best but even if these guitars were made a little cheaper than normal, thier sound did not suffer from it...and hey for all you people who want a great sounding strat....theres a few of these on e bay for less than 700....which i think is because of the bad rap....alls I know is when this guitar is plugged into my Blues deluxe amp....look out....Tone is unbelievable and all that rubbish about bad year strats is just that...Rubbish,,...Im am glad to be a new member of the Strat family and I welcome all opinions...thanks Folks

Wow, $150?! Great deal, that's only a little more than my Squier cost!
It's good that you like it too. :D

Oh, and welcome to the forums!

If it is authentic, and you got it for a buck-fiddy... yeah, I agree the fella DIDN"T know what he had. I have read some of the many, "... 82-84 was the 'worst' year for Strats..." comments, and I respect a lot of what I read on this forum in particular, but that is one comment that I disagree wholeheartedly with. I've got a '83 (even though my handle is '84), and it's tone is top notch, and it has aged wonderfuly. The "action" has never had to be monkied with... it's just a great piece from Fender.

ENJOY!
Fellow "two-tone-knobs" Strat owner :)

Peace,
'84

There's gotta be a "worst" year, doesn't there? Take a room full of Mensa members and there is a "dumbest" guy, right? And the "worst" year for Corvettes is 1976!

Even if 1981 (which is my opinion on the worst year, qualitywise) is the worst, that doesn't mean that every single guitar produce then was an awful piece of garbage. Far from it.

Which year would be the worst in your opinion?

I'd love to see some pictures of this Deal of the Century!

Not to mention if you had never heard anyone say that it was the worst year, how you would really feel about it. Sometimes we suffer from too much information.

Yoou need to put them on another site that lets you host them, then link to them.

I suggest Photobucket after you upload your image hover over the picture, and you will get various options to copy, use the one with the [img] tags, and copy/paste it into your posts here.
