When I got my hwy1 6 years ago I was never crazy about the trem arm. It never felt quite right, it was to close to the body and it would smack into the knobs when pushed back. When I put Kinman pickups in it was worse because the bottom treble knob pops up for p-90 sounds. I finally just took it off and taped over the hole so I wouldn't lose the spring. Lately though, I wanted to play some Floyd and it's tough to play Gilmore without a trem arm. I took the chance and ordered a Vintage trem arm and just hoped it fit, there are many strats and many trem arms so I wasn't sure. Well hot damn, what a difference! Fits perfect, stays high and away from the knobs, now I can't stop using it. Plays those Gilmore pull ups great but I also can go on a surfing safari if I want to. I f any body else is having trem problems like I did with a hwy-1, give the vintage trem arm a shot. :D
