Nice guitar--without a doubt--but I can't see paying a tenth of that on a guitar.

Two things are recognized here: a well crafted and doubtless fine playing instrument and the gifted individual who created it. In essence, a true work of art. We watched the progress of its birth, did we not? What ever amount you'd pay for it would be a tribute to both and of far greater value intrinsically by any stretch of the imagination than that '62 'debtor's hope'

Blimey - that's a helluva compliment! Utterly underserved, obviously - but hopefully I'll get a little way to earning a tiny part of it in a few weeks' time, and maybe providing a little entertainment on the way...

Rubbish: We followed the progress of that project. You did yourself proud. The art of the knowledge base is applying it to problem solve the atypical case. The outcome was most impressive judging from the kudos coming from everywhere.

Not a vintage freak, and not a rich man.

I'll prefer buying a Porsche, a Ducati, a Vespa, and a few months of rent payment over a guitar.

It's a pretty color, though.

And wait... Ceri, did you MAKE that Strat?

Ceri made lemonade from a lemon. The Strat in the photo is his creation. There is a recent thread in archives which follows the progress. I've forgotten the title of the post but I trust you will be directed to it forthwith.

Christ, that's awesome.

Where'd you learn that?

Are there Youtube videos of it? That'd be cool.

I think if you do the sums, if I had US $125k ( $193,000 my currency) I would ask my self, If I had that amount to burn on a guitar as an investment- would I not be better off buying a wall of rare custom shop instruments? or a sonic blue '62?

What would you rather have?

Here in St Louis recently on Craigslist there was a guy selling a 59 Strat that his grandfather had bought new..He had the original receipt and all documentation on the guitar it was in Sunburst and had some bare wood spots were you would rest your forearm and again on the back were it would rub against your body he had put it in a climate controlled space since 1980 when he had inherited it...It was sold for $53,000 ... I can hardly see this one being worth double that but apparently it has sold

If I was a billionaire, I would pay the 125,000. However I am not, so no. I would NEVER pay that much for a strat. Although it is really nice!

Who in the heck would go to eBay to buy a rare guitar such as that? There are brokers such as Gruhn's, auctioneers like Southeby's that specialize in legitimate instruments; eBay doesn't come close to making that list. That said, without someone such as George Gruhn or Dan Erlewine standing there providing verification, I am inclined to think this is a counterfeit.

For $125K he played it for about 2:04 minutes too long in his video.

Hey there is this great post on the Harmony Central forum where someone posted a vintage guitar booklet from 1982 it is insane. All these pre CBS strats selling for 13.15,18 hundred dollars I mean every one of them. There are 54s mentioned for 2 grand then they have the gibson listings which even in 82 are pretty high but 8 grand for a 59 is still sick there were quite a few but the was the top price. I was reading an interview with Gary Moore and he was saying on a whole guitars today are much better all around. He said he has played a lot of vintage guitars that were dogs but then he said when you get the right one it is priceless. So if a lot of us had a billion in the bank believe me the axes we bought would be because we could and it would not affect us in the least and if I had a choice of buying one ax for $125,000 or getting $125,000 worth of master built custom shop models from today that would be a no brainer. Man did you guys see that custom Rack em up Tele and that Presidential Strat died with wine it dont get better than that.
