I played Gibson in my early years because I needed that fat humbucking sound and thought Fender Strats were not versatile enough...well with age comes wisdom and I would choose my Strat as the one guitar I had to gig or record with.

Each pickup and combination thereof offers different and very usable tones and the action of a Strat is always superior, in my opinion.

You really can't go wrong with a Strat...and even if you don't like it, you;ll find someone willing to buy it from you in a heartbeat.

That's exactly what it will do, assuming of course that you're up to it. I don't think you can beat a strat for versatility.

I want a versatile guitar because I really want to try to play all kinds of genre. Honestly, I am still not good as a guitar player. I am just a beginner. But I want to set a goal so that it can help me persevere on my playing. Because when I have o goal sometimes I am becoming lazy to practice. I am not saying that I can achieve this goal but I am not saying that I can't. I think it depends on me.

Can you help me choose a guitar. A guitar that CAN DO ALL STUFFS, CAN PLAY ALL GENRE. I am choosing between a fender and ibanez because I like the 24 frets and the floyd rose of an ibanez, but I also like the fender for its sound. Help me guys.

Get a american deluxe. Every sound you can dream of with one of those and a volume boost pedal.

'Agree; an American Deluxe Stratocaster with S-1 is arguably the most verstaile production guitar around.

And personal observation re quality; "It's too nice to be a Fender."

But for the basics; a nice Standard will do MUCH.

An American Standard will do MUCH, even nicer.

Personally, 'am not an HSS kinda enthusiast. "It's not a pure Stratocaster."

Yes.

To be really versatile, you could order a doubleneck (Strat & Nocaster).

The Strat can be used to play any type of music you want and it will sound good. It's an extremely versatile guitar. If you can only own one electric guitar, it better be a Stratocaster.

Well, my friend, I was facing same hesitation years ago... I loved old gibson jazz sound, and the fat-and-endless les paul sound and also a vintage telecaster sound, and also Beatles-type rickenbacker and gretch sound... And yes - I wanted all that combined into my undisputable favorite - the strat. And this all ended up with a clever advice coming in from one of the shop assistants - he suggested that I buy me a HSS Highway one start... Of course it cannot make exactly the same as quoted above in terms of exact tembre and shape of the sound, but it makes it all - and many more - in a pretty close proximity, and yes - after playing with the amp and side effects - sometimes it makes perfect immitations. But you know what - when I gave all that $@!& up and started trying my buddy-srat just by itself, just as it is - only then I knew what a fantastic instrument I have. A good humbuck-added piece of stratocaster can play virtually everything when you get closer to it. And the most important is - no other guitar ever can get even some close to the sound of a clear real strat - it just hide a thousands of voices - charming and unrepeatable. So I suggest - choose one, bring it home and love it when you touch it - that's all it takes....
