Practice and try things until you get your sounds.

Write down the guitar and amp settings you tried and notes on if you liked or not.

Best of fortune!

yes Fender can be play metal. Also jazz, funk, country and blues. With pickups correct and varied pedals is most excellent rocking out guitar.

Just having a bit of fun brother, I meant no offense. Yes your Fender can be used for almost any kind of music. That's why they have been an industry standard for so many years. The models with humbuckers will give you a fatter sound but you can't go wrong with a Fender guitar.

I play Metal and Blues with my Highway 1 Stratocaster. I also play through Boss pedals. I have a Metal Zone and EQ 7. I can dial in an almost perfect Metallica sound (and with a good Humbucker I could have it). If you are looking for a way to dial in your Metal Core, go to Boss website:

http://www.bossus.com/gear/productdetai ... arentId=90

Play around with this site and your pedals.
