Pls forgive me my username, I do have a big admiration for the man and his music, it's timeless.
However, thought I'd like to share some sounds I've squeezed out of my (april) 1972 Stratocaster, using the whammybar quite a lot,and pushing the hell out of the strings.(5 springs in the back)
The guitarneck (maple) was scalloped by someone long ago, and it feels very inspiring to play.
The arrangements are very naked, as we are a trio, with Hammond,Guitar and drums.Bass is played on basspedals on the Hammond C3.We could of course made the songs quite a bit more heavy by adding takes and harmonies, but left it almost like "live"-sounding.
That way the sound of the Stratocaster comes through, which is NOT an easy thing playing with the Hammond and all the frequenzies being sent out of the Leslie.

Here's the link : www.myspace.com/bergsinferno

I play through a Marshall '70 Super-Pa, using effectboxes like Flanger, delay, reverb, and lots of distortion :D

Very best regards, Per

Great stuff there, Per. I was expecting some Jeff Beck kind of sounds, but it's a lot more Gilmour and other sounds.

Where can I download it! ? ! ?

And please show us some pictures of that Strat!

I'm impressed... part one dragged a little for me but that was just the composition and my taste. You guys really start cookin at the end of one and it carries over into 2. I can definitely hear the influences you mention in your tag. That B3 is too cool. I kept waiting for ELP to "come and see the show"
Love the sounds you get out of the Strat. Creamy. Keep us posted and welcome. :D

That was enjoyable...Nice work...Sounded like some 70's based keyboard rock like (Welcome to the grand illusion) I can't remember who performed that right now...But your guitar sound had me intrigued...It to me sounded like Steve Via's tone but played with David Gilmours slow and moody style which i think is a very good combination.. May i ask what your set up was for that song ..I know the 72 Strat part ..But what effects and amp?

Wow, I truly appreciate your kind words, and it's very good of you to
mention what the music reminds you of ! The mantra of the band is to make new music that sounds like old music, and the composer (Yngve Berg) is really into the '70s prog/art-rock like Focus,ELP,King Crimson (the list goes on). BTW,I think I've seen a Styx-record in his vinylcollection !

The songs were recorded in our rehearsal"cabin" using a Boss Br-somethingmultitracker.We think the sound is good, the less is more worked quite well, and suited our minimalistic recordinggear inventory.

The main effect for guitar is the Hartman Analog Flanger, which is set at slow speed and depth, the filter opens up the notes as it goes slowly through the frequencies, almost like a subtle wah-wah, or changing from neck-pup to bridge-pup while playing. This is most audible in the first solo of One Day part 2, and it's all over Dante.(except the slow part, where I play the melody using octaves and distortion).
I use T-rex Dr.Swamp and Twinboost for distortion,a great combination IMHO. The amp is Marshall Super-PA from 1970,clean setting, but loud :-)
Mad Professor deep blue delay and T-Rex roommate as well.
Thank you all again, hope for even more comments !
Best regards, Per

Thank you all for listening and viewing !
I've just installed a Villex passive booster, next song will probably
reveal how it sounds. Many ways to beef up the tone, for better or worse,I know. But it's fun trying out things..searching for a tone of my own.
(and to be heard through that wall of sound from the Hammond.)
regards, Per
