Come on guy's i dont know much about fenders but even i know that the 60's neck come without lacquer finish. i believe most fenders have the decal but with lacquer over it thats why it doesn't look like a sticker

this custom shop blackie was made to exact specs to the original
and sell's for $24,000 USD

Hey FenderHeads-

Sorry to hear about your "SRV" logo- Then again...what did you expect? an actual signature? - It's a decal....its not custom shop. These are mass produced guitars that are top of the line for being an assembly line item. The are solid and have great tone.

If you are worried about the decals coming off...spray some varnish or "Clear Coat" over them and forget it.

Happy playing-

The Freeze

the only "Sticker" on my SRV strat is the stratocaster name. the signature and the serial number are painted on and are not decals or stickers.

No the serial number is painted on and my Clapton is an 01 which I bought new and the guitar is killer but the sticker is bullsh!t. I dont care what 60s model you say it is based on . They did not have a TBX and a Mid Boost in the 60s so just paint it on like it is on every other Fender I own. Who ever came up with that idea was not to swift and to tell the truth till this post I was long over it but I know how he feels that he just plunked down 2 grand for a guitar that has a decal signature for that price nothing should be a decal and I cant understand anyone defending that.

I dont see anyone buying a 62 Ri complaining about the 3 way switch AND the decals. When theydesigned the EC strat they gave him the liberties as to what it should look like.I would complain to him, not Fender.

didnt you read??

all fenders with 60s neck's dont come w clear coat !!
so that mean's that all USA fenders have the decal...
if you dont like it change the neck or get it clear coated
or better yet get a squire neck which is stamped with paint

If I am not mistaken all Fenders have decals on the head. Sometimes it is much more visible depending on the finish of the neck and head... so if it is highly glossed, laquered then it might not be that visible but still at closer inspection. Also natural aging and exposure also plays role in the visibity of the actual decal edge I believe

I just got a Eric Clapton Artist series Strat with the palest neck you have ever seen and the decal edges are very visible. Not perhaps to everyones taste but that it is the way it has been done since they started making them.

So don't be concerned... just play and enjoy :)

+1 The guitar itself counts and something small like just a decal on the headstock to me isn't a big deal. My Eric Johnson strat which is sold for 2300 new has the decal. It hasn't come off and is still there like the day I bought it.
