That bridge looks like a wilkinson, a good system but never fitted by fender. It could be a mod. The price is way too low, stolen kind of low.

I'd want to know the serial no' and run a police check on it.

Indeed. Too good to be true usually means not true!

The headstock pic is too blurry to tell if it's a Classic 70's Reissue or a rebranded Squier or some other Asian strat-like guitar.

From the little bit I can tell from the pictures, the bridge looks like a Wilkinson Gotoh VSVG; the neck looks right to me for a 70s RI. The pickguard is probably an add-on; the pot knobs are definitely add-ons; the body is anyone's guess as are the pickups. The case is not a Fender but it is quite adequate. Without more detailed and clearer pictures, its hard to tell.

If I am not comfortable with a guitar I would just pass it by. To be honest it is not that hard to put a guitar together out of fender parts and pass it off as a virgin guitar. There are many people here on the forum that could put parts together and most would not know the difference so when you see one that looks out of place  It does not even need to be a true fender body with knowledge of there markings.

Could be a Hwy 1 neck, or guitar for that matter.

Don't think so. A Hwy 1 would have roller trees and a wood truss-rod cover. Also, a nice Hwy neck (by itself) sells for $300+.

This is so true. A partscaster is so easy to build, if a guitar seems fishy, it most likely is.

It kills me that every guy with a heavily-modded Fender to sell describes it as "custom."

Exactly, Custom Strat = Non Authentic Strat.

Only one place I know they make Customs that remain authentic and it's called the Fender Custom Shop.

My opinion on the whole custom thing is Just because you change parts on a guitar does not make anything custom. Takeing stock parts from one and put on another just make it no longer original. Putting on a custom crafted neck or other custom crafted parts will make it more of a custom guitar if the majority of the parts are custom crafted.

I think what pisses us off is the use of the term custom on eBay and the like. Personally I like having a genuine serial number on the neck. Again, nothing to do with playability.

Just as the "vintage" Strats out there for sale that are from 1998 for example. :)

I would say the overuse of it. Modded should be the prefered nomenclature. I just see alot of partocasters labeled as customs.
