You guys are really gonna make me make the jump. I've been eyeing the Highway One as a workhorse strat so I can retire one of my rarer strats and keep the wear off of it.

If I can possibly find a way to get it for ANY less whatsoever than $699 (I know, a lot to ask), then I would have one in my room today.

Thanks everyone. I actually paid top dollar for this guitar as I bought it after the Fender price, but it was worth every penny. I haved owned cheap guitars and Stratocaster copies and I have to say there is just no substitute for the real deal. This is a guitar that I am going to own for the rest of my life, and that is pretty special :D

I have been playing a borrowed HSS Highway '04 model for the past three months and I could tell that this neck felt different straight away, it is so much smoother and requires less effort to manipulate the notes and play chords. At last! The neck pickup has that full round Fender tone that the '04 model lacked.

The neck and middle pickups have that Fender Shrill sound that I have been longing for and they are so responsive through a valve amplifier. The humbucker at the bridge was noticably smoother and handled overdrive really well. Now all I have to do is work out how to put this guitar down! :D
