No, a Gibson SG is a guitar that WISHES it was a Fender....LOL

I know you are just kidding, but an SG Standard ... to me ... is pure Gibson:
- Mohogany body
- Set neck
- Ebony fingerboard
- Angled headstock
- Neck binding
- Full humbuckers
- Block inlays

Nothing too Fender about that to me...

Yeah, dude, I know. It is just that others say similar things not in jest like you. Good post on your part.

Fender made Strats with two HBs, though, I don't believe they offer one at the present time. They were called Double Fat Strat, Strat HH, and the original, the Big Apple Strat with two Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates HBs.

I'm still searching for a good deal on one. Always wanted one in Candy Apple Red or Shoreline Gold.

One reason to build your own is for the whammy bar if you want it. I think all of the others were hardtails, but I could be wrong.

I know it sounds a little crazy, but yes, I want this particular Strat to have a jazzier tone, so 2 HBs with 12's, but also a little trem action here and there.....all running through a Roland Jazz Chorus. Yep, I seem to be a solid state guy also......damn, I am stranger than I thought!!!! Plus....the Strat body is mahogany still in the natural state....no paint.....with a 60's neck with rosewood fingerboard. Mmmmmm....just oozes creamy, smooth, sweet jazz..........

People are exactly right when they say it wont sound like a Les Paul or SG what i would think it would sound closer two would be the 80's Jacksons and Charvels...That is what i would think buy the way and not what i know..
There is one huge benefit two having a double humbucker on a Strat platform..Which is that you will have a double hunbucker guitar with the same feel and action as a regular Strat which to me is the reason i'm thinking about doing the same thing...
I have gotten real use to having a Strat in my hands and when i do pick up another model guitar it feels almost alien to me like something is wrong or missing..With me it does affect my playing when i first grab a different styled guitar but that is me...
