I've been looking at buying a strat for a long time now but I simply can't decide witch one to buy! I mean there's so many. I was almost certain it would be a American DLX "V" neck but then I whent and played it again and it felt a little weak in the pickups. And I did try different amplifiers. Now I saw the 57 hot rod and it also have the SCN's but som other really nice specs like the paint. The thing is none of these guitars have a rosewood neck witch I like the sound of. I love the sound of guys like Stevie, Mayer etc. and they use rosewood. American STD strats dont have the thin paint like the 57 hot rod but they do have rosewood necks. Could'nt I just buy an american strat and put in some SCN's and singlecoil humbucker in the bridge. Put on vintage tremolo and tuners and have kind of the 57 exept for the paint and the v shape neck and save alot of money+I get a rosewood neck? Thankful for your help!

USA Vintage '62 reissue comes with a rosewoodfingerboard, but no
V-neck. Also the SRV model strat is a nice guitar.

Good luck with the search,

Peter

That's the beauty of Fender. Soo many different possibilities.

Have you thought about maybe building the guitar you want, you know, parts from warmoth, ebay etc. Sometimes it can come out cheaper that way, but not always.

The thing is that I'm from sweden and it's not the easiest to buy guitar part from the us and bild it here+ it will probably be really expencive becuse of the shipping costs. That's why I want to buy the "perfect" guitar right away.
Maybe the way to go is to buy a second hand american strat with rosewood finger board and put in som texas specials? Maybe throw on some locking tuners to get the luxury like the AM DLX? Maybe it's just a stupid idea but hat do you think?

I just bought an American Deluxe Ash Stratocaster with a rosewood fretboard. I found out the same thing, couldn't get a deluxe except in maple. Love this guitar, better sustain, rich sound, killer looks, sunburst with the rosewood, mint green pickup guard. Cool looks.

Shoot, keep forgeting to cover everything I'm thinking. V neck as well, only may solve your issue with the Deluxe pickups. However, love mine. Great tone with the ash and rosewood combo, plus S-1 Pickups I think are the best yet.

What effect does the ash have on the guitars sound?

Well I am not a professional by no means, but have played in a few bands and played a few Fender Strats. However, this was my first strat purchase. Used to play a Fender Lead II. I went for the ash for the that warm rich tone. You can really feel the sound through the body of the guitar againts your picking arm and your gut. Sound just seems to sustain longer, more rich or vibrant with color. Play a bunch of them unplugged and pay attention to which guitar bodies you can actually feel and you may get the tone your looking for.

P.S. Ash is by far the best looking wood on any strat. The wood grain is incredible.
