I checked with one of the largest Fender Dealers in Upstate NY they sell well over 1,000 strats a year and I was told that at least 30% of all incoming strats, American, highway One and especially the MIM had serious issues with quality. The guitar inspections by Fender are a joke. I would rather buy from a smaller dealer..aka Reverend where quality control is not just done on every guitar, it's done so well it's legendary. My new JS390 stomps all over that Mexican right out of the box and was one of the best set-up guitars I have ever played and I've been playing for over 40 years. Mass production leads to lots of problems and thats why Fenders are now my LEAST favorite guitar. After playing a Reverend I will NEVER buy another Fender. These Reverends beat the snot out of the strats. My JS390 sounds like a strat on steroids. Only it;s a much better guitar. Solid Korina, not poplar...Locking tuners (Std) beautiful sunburst finnish (no extra charge) and the fretwork and maple board are as smooth as glass. All for $550..I will NEVER buy another Fender when I can get twice the guitar for a lot less money. Fender is the most overpriced, poorly made guitar in America. It sells on name alone because when it comes to quality...Fender doesn't have any..IMO

Well, I am glad you have found a cure for your Fender addiction. I still have to have my American St. Tele...hideous price tag and all :D

Yes, It's quite an enlightening feeling to realize that with Fender you get less for your money and you don't need them...they need you.

Reverend guitars are nice guitar. Do you happen to know which Korean factory makes them since they are not mass produced? I know that since they stop selling direct to the customer last year they no longer make any in U.S. made models. You used to get some nice deals from them on demo and b stocks back then.

????

Not to beat a dead horse around or anything, but why come onto the Fender Website to bash their guitar. I guess every one is entitled to an opinion.

FYI: My guitars are both made of Alder not Poplar. I have 1 Fender and 1 Squire, and both are really good guitars. Of course neither are MIM models. When I wanted locking tuners, I put them on my Fender.

Thank you for introducing me to Reverend guitars, there is a guitar out there for anyone who has the desire to play. Hope you enjoy yours for many, many years like I will mine.

Since finances are tight why not shop for a Strat on your local used list . Then you save some major dough and most local sellers will let you try them out before you buy. I don't see how you could loose!! That way you could try out some MIM and som MIA and get the one you like the best!! Some times the journey is half the fun!!

Good luck with the search and rescue!!

Highway 1 without a doubt man.... You can get a crisp clean tone with it as well and the neck has a great feel to it too....
