I knew before reading the first post where this was going...

The dude was simply asking for some advice on how to relic, not for everyones opinion - this is another topic that everytime it comes up, it becomes a big debate - some like it, some dont - I think old beat up guitars look cool - I also think brand new shiny guitars look cool- To each his own!

I agree with you. This was simply a post looking for info on how to relic a guitar. He wasn't asking whether he should or shouldn't.

I hope you saw my post about checking out relicdeluxe.com. That is a good site to start off on. If any one else has any info, feel free to post it. Let's try to get this guy some useful information.

Yeah, I sure did. Very good information on there. I also found a few good videos on youtube. :)

Yea, that is a good site - we get paint and other stuff from there often!

Have fun with your relic job - I just seen a friends completed tele earlier - its awesome looking - it looks 50 years old - he went all out on it - Funny thing is, some people are really into this look - a dude offered him 850 bucks for it today - and he has less than 200 in the complete guitar!

Just have fun with it- dont listen to the negative people complaining about it - The ones saying, "I wanna play my guitar and let it relic over the years naturally" - Well, truth be told, there arent many of those dudes on here that play ever night, and will be doing so for the next 30 years to make a guitar look like SRV's #1 - and if its POLY, its not good look like that even if they do hit it hard everynight

Enjoy it! Beat the piss out of it!

the best relic tip i can think of; dont do it! let years of wear and tear do the hard work for you. that way each of the marks tells a diffrent story thats make that guitar closer to you.
