Hey, everyone. I'm new to the forum and would like to introduce myself by asking a question that I'm sure you've all heard before. I'm looking into buying a Strat by summer's end and I was wondering if you all had any opinions on American made Strats from the late 80's/early 90's. Is there any specific year that is better than the others? Also, what are your thoughts on Japanese made Strats? Specifically, the '57 reissue model from the 2000's. Thanks for the help.

Weren't the 80's models when fender was owned by CBS and the just threw all the pickups in a box to save assembly time, Isn't that when the quality was so bad they used all Japanese guitar because the Americans were so inferior in quality?

I did hear from an old strat man that the 89 and up were a decent quality guitar but not on par with the 2001 and up.
