Hey all,
I have a 99 American Standard strat. I have owned it since it was new, and I realized I don't know what color it is. Maybe some of you experts in here are more familier with fender's colors. Heres what I know;
It is a deep plum purplish color, unlike any I have seen. The only color I have seen that is even close it the midnight champagne I think it is, however mine is still noticable more purple than red.
I was told it was a rare color when I got it, and that I probably would never see another strat the same color.
Well so far I havnt seen a copy, nor do I remember the color. Any of you heard of anything like this?
Regards,
Jason

Hi thewood1987: do you see it here?

http://www.fender.com/resources/colors/

That color chart is a lot less than comprehensive, but what you describe sounds a bit like Midnight Wine...?

Cheers - C

Hey guys, I am on the work pc and dont have access to my photos. I did not see the color on that chart, however its almost a blend of the midnight wine, and the burgundy mist. I saw a pic someone posted on here of their strat of the same color. Ill see if I can find it again and repost it here for you all to examine.

Hey Jason! That would be my Strat that you found here.

Image

The color is "Purple Metallic". Fender only offered it on the Am. Std. guitars and basses in 1998 and 1999. It took the place of red for those years, then they discontinued the purple and replaced it with Hot Rod Red.
Lot's of metallic in that paint!

The color actually changes in different lighting, because of the metallic paint. So far I've only seen one other person play one of these, and that was in a club in Fla. :?
