So I am thinking my next project will be to change the pickups in this guitar...

Image

I want to put in two Gibson P-90s with 1 master volume, 1 master tone, and a gibson style 3 way toggle.

Has anyone done anything like this? Any opinions?

I am looking for as much feedback as i can get cause i will have to route out some of the pickup cavity to get the P-90s to fit.

Thanks,
j

There are Strats and Teles with soapbar pickups.

From fender all I have seen is the Strat-o-Sonic and the thinline tele. But as for my strat, it is a highway one body, so it is routed for a bridge humbucker and then two single coils. I think it would be awesome with some p-90s.

It's your guitar, so do with it what you want.
I think P-90's would sound great, maybe some Seymour Duncan's.
Maybe you could route your guitar out like an American Standard.
That's a large oblong route so you could experiment with other
PU's combinations, even 3 P-90's.

Good luck,

Peter

I've been thinking about doing the same thing. I don't think you'd have to change the wiring, just solder the P90's in where the single coils attached. You would have to rout the body so that the P90's would fit. American Series guitars come routed for humbuckers in the neck and bridge so I think P90's would fit in one, but otherwise you'll probably have to rout your guitar.
