Hi...I have been reading posts about refretting...my 60s Strat is not playable, I have been playing my 2005 Am Strat, but defnitely miss my old strat. Do you have any recommendations about finding a reputable guitar tech? I live in the Philadelphia PA area. One previous poster recommended licensed Fender repair technicians. Where might I find such a list? Or, if you live in the area, any recommendations for techs for repairs would be appreciated. One person recommended buying a new neck, but I would rather play the original. Thanks!

Greetings,

There is no such thing as a, "licensed Fender repair technician", per se. And even if you searched for an authorized Fender repair facility near you, that of itself is not enough to guarantee the caliber of the work performed within.

A new neck is certainly not necessary as any truly competent tech can restore your unplayable neck into superbly playing condition.

I cannot vouch first hand for anyone down in your area. However, I've been hearing a lot of good things about this place:

http://www.southjerseyguitarrepair.com/

Give them a call and then a visit. While you're there, ask to see some of their fret work.
