Hi Folks,
I plan to buy from a dude in the forum. Before I go further, there are a few questions as usual.

For the recent produced MIM standard,

1.Is it all the neck plate will be engraved? If yes, what would be it? "F"?
2.How about the tuning peg?Engraved as well?
3.What are the expected serial no?MZ......

I am not sure how reliable this sources is.When authenticate a MIM or MIA,

1.Turn the both tone knob to the max.
2.Increase the volume gradually. Each note played after will sound louder.Unlike a squier,it makes no difference.

Thanks a ton

If I understand you correctly...
1. Of the newer MIM Standard Strats, the only ones that came from the factory with an engraved neck plate were those anniversary editions they released in 2006. They were engraved with the 60th Anniversary insignia with a diamond. Now, anyone can have theirs engraved, or just swap it out with another. The "F" ones you see are the 70s style reproductions.

2. The newer tuning pegs will have "Fender" engraved on them if they are the standard Fender/Ping tuners. If they have been upgraded to the locking tuners, some will say "Fender" and some will just have "F" on them.

3. The serial numbers do start with MZ# (if it was made after 2000). So, if it has MZ6 on it then it would be a 2006 model (or beginning of 2007).

And yes herngyih, the tone and volume knobs function correctly as you've described.

I have a new MIM Strat that I purchased 3 weeks ago. It's a 2009 Black with Maple fingerboard and it's Serial Number begins with MZ9 and the Tuning Pegs have "Fender" engraved on them. The neck plate is Chrome with nothing engraved on it. I hope that helps a you a little. :D

Hi herngyih: you are buying from another member of this Forum?

Is he reading this thread? Does he have any comments to make? Would he like to post pictures of the guitar in question?

Cheers - C

Do you have any pics? That would make it easy to see what is stock and what was replaced.
