Fender did make the Voodoo Strat, righthanded body with lefthanded
neck. Large headstock reversed bridge PU, reverse staggered polepieces.
Also there was a completely white lefthanded Strat for the righthanded
player. Don't know if they still make them.
Fender Mexico Classic Series '70s strat is also a nice guitar.

There is one that looks pretty similar: the 60's reverse special. Saw it online at Musicians Friend during a GAS attack. (Didn't get it though.)

Fender also put out a couple of Hendrix models not mentioned here...

A Monterey Pop replica of the one he burned, and a replica of his Woodstock guitar for right-handers. It was a left-handed model restrung to a righty. It was extremely limited, though.

Both are very very expensive.

Hey there Jimihendrixisgod.

I think you just need to learn how to play the guitar left-handed?

why don't you just buy a left handed arctic white w/ maple fretboard (standard) and string it and play it upside down. then you'd have your whammy and knobs on top, and have to deal with the backwards cut-away while shredding the higher frets and throwing the cable out of the way from your input jack which now points up to the sky. or you can not worry about image and just play.

There have been many Hendrix models made: http://www.stratcollector.com/newsdesk/archives/000183.html

Unfortunately none are in production anymore. Fender lost the rights to use Hendrix's name around 1997 or 98, in a lawsuit brought by his family. Pretty lame.

I got lucky enough to find a product of this lawsuit left over on ebay. I have the '68 Re-Issue Reverse Headstock Strat. It's the exact same thing as a Voodoo Strat. Right handed body, reverse headstock, vintage pickups with reversed staggered pole pieces and reverse angle bridge pickup for the Hendrix sound. It even has a "tribute" series serial number that dates it back to 97 which is when the Voodoo strats were being produced, but this one wasn't released till about 2001, after the lawsuit was over. Because this was after the lawsuit, Hendrix's name isn't used in the title, and it doesn't have the Hendrix engraved neckplate on it.

They're still on ebay every once in a while and you can get lucky on them. I got lucky on mine and got it for near the price that any other artist signature model would go for today, even if it wasn't discontinued. Unfortunately people are currently jacking up the prices online, just because they can.

If you can't find one of those on ebay or it's out of your budget, Fender did recently put these out: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/ ... sku=512595

Without trying to sound like an elitist, I've played a few and they're not too much like the Voodoo strats in terms of tone and feel. The radius is smaller, vintage frets, so bending is difficult. The pickguard is one ply, and the pickups are different. And I believe this model is made in Mexico. It's a great amount cheaper than the Voodoo strat though, so that is to be expected.

I wouldn't worry too much about style, but I will say that I will never sell my reverse headstock strat. It plays and sounds like no other. I also intend on using reverse headstocks on most strats I build from now on. The string tension is definately different.

Great Post!

First, it solves his problem, at a reasonable price, no less.

But more importantly, it was funny. It really shows how silly it was for Jimi (who I think is Da Man, by the way) to play his Strat backwards and upside down.

Wish I'd thought of it.

Hi,

I got one of these , http://www.turnkey.co.uk/product/fender ... tic-white/ I believe they are available on some online guitar shops based in the states. Apart from the 1 ply pickguard being not the greatest , it find it great to play and has some nice tones in there. While its not a voodoo strat its decent , and you can always consider upgrading the pick ups etc... to ur taste :-)

"Is Fender going to ever release a Jimi Hendrix Strat?"

It's been done several times. Check out the link.

Wasn't this what the '68 reissue was all about? A LOT of left-handed guitars were shipped out (Japanese) so right handed people could buy a guitar so they could "look" like Hendrix while playing onstage...

I don't know about all that....but I was most appreciative of the extra lefties available. (Yeah...I'm left-handed and I stopped playing right-handed guitars as soon as I had enough money to buy a real one.)

Can anyone comment on the sonic difference in the reverse angled bridge pickup?
