Well, I decided on the lipstick pickups. They sound good and they're versatile, which is just what I needed. Now all I have to do is pick the color, which is harder than it seems. The black ones give is a stealth, modern look and the silver ones give it a more vintage, space age look. I like both of them.
I took a picture of the guitar that they're going to be installed in and photoshopped it to look like it had lipstick pickups. Which one do you think looks better?

Cool guitar! Silver by a long way (not even a close call, if it were my choice). Man, I love the pickguard with the body color. But would you be mad at me if I told you I am not feelin' the knobs?

Thanks. :D I found the pickguard on ebay, I thought it was really unique and since it matched my guitar perfectly I got it. No, I don't blame you. I'm not feelin' the knobs either. At least not with the chrome pickups. It looks nice with the pickups in there now, but I think if I go for the chrome I'll swipe the chrome knobs off my brother's Telecaster.

And I admit I had a Gibson obsession when I put those knobs on there. It took the combined forces of SRV, Henrdix and Clapton to bring me back to the Fender side of the force.

Here's what the whole body of the guitar currently looks like.

Tex go with the black. The color scheme of the whole ax is for black and that pickguard is slamming. And yes those knobs have to go not because of any stupid relation to gibson they just seem wrong and would bother my picking hand. I bet you switch them up with some strat black ones its going to free up your picking hand. Anyway you did some job there.

Before I saw your guitar, I was going to say chrome all the way, but black is super hot with that pickguard. Real sweet looking rig you got there, pal.

Wow, it seems I am the only one to vote silver. The reason I did (and I'm not switching, btw) is that I love the look of lipstick pickups. To me, if you go black, the cool look of the lipstick pups would be lost in that black pickguard.

Just an opinion ... and I'll like your guitar either way.

It's a 2004 MIM Standard. They continued that color blue a couple of years later. Which is too bad because that was one of my favorite guitar colors. I had been drooling over that Strat since I was ten. I didn't finally get it until I was thirteen and a music store had a going out of business sale. They had two strats there, but I didn't even play the other one. I knew exactly which one I wanted. :D

Yeah, I also never ever touched the controls when I got those knobs. My style has changed fairly dramatically and I mess with them all the time now, and my finger fits around Strat knobs better.

Yeah, at first I didn't even consider the silver. But then I did that photoshop thing and realize that I really liked the chrome too. I'm still undecided though.

Hello Texasguitarslinger,

Chrome for me.
It matches the tuners, bridge, jack & neckplate.

Cheers.
