Hello friends!

I am about to purchase a used Fender Stratocaster 50th Anniversary built in 2004. I would like to ask your opinion on whether it is authentic or not.The serial number is: Z3220354
The current owner did not buy it new and is asking 970$ (US)

Please help!

Thanks!

any chance of a picture or link to the sale? All you can tell from the serial is that its a standard model of some sort made in 2003/4.

Welcome!

Judging by the serial number alone, the neck dates to 2003, US made which is possible for a 2004 guitar. Based on the pictures, it appears to be authentic as does the case.

Looks a little expensive to me unless your planning on not playing it and selling it in 20years. It seems a bit expensive for a used standard that your going to play every day. You could buy a new one for the price its being offered at.

Agreed. Besides, there are SO many of them out there, they will be far from rare even in 20 years.

I called him and he is saying that he will not go under 1100$ CAN. Initially I offered 1000$ CAN.

Call his bluff unless you specificaly want a anniversary model to sell in the future for a profit. If you want a guitar to play just get a regular standard. Theres no difference except the engraved neckplate. I bought a anniversary deluxe as a collection piece. It was the worst thing i could have done, all i want to do is play it.

Nevermind the 50th anniversary aspect. These things are a dime-a-dozen.

$1000 CAD is perfectly reasonable for it. Infact used AM standards usually go for less, even. If he doesn't bite there'll be plenty of better deals in your future I'm sure.

For $1,000 U.S dollars punch in Fender Stratocaster on ebay and I guarantee you will find at least 10 better deals. You are going to have to go through about 2000 listings but it will be worth it.
