If you flipped the 4th fret on that guitar round its not too far from my strat shape nut. That guitar will be more accurate though as its set different at every fret. I dont mind people thinking that mines prettier. Were a fickle lot. :D

Daniel your nuts underway, cut it round at my mucka's workshop this evenning. Going to shape and slot it over the next couple of days.

Very impressive Nik, I like that, you've done a great job there and Ceri, likewise on the installation. You've got me thinking as well now.
Good job all round. Nice. 8)

Rhumba theres a guy near you in Bolton fitting his own compensated nuts for £130 a time including setup.
Not too different from my strat or 6saddle tele nut. Ceri's nut is for a 3 saddle tele with wilkinson compensated tuners fitted. When i get round to measuring a regular uncompensated 3 saddle tele it will be different still.

Impressive work Mr. Ninja. We are all very lucky to have you as a member on this forum. This nut is an ingenius solution to a old problem and once again shows your intelligence when it comes to guitars and music. Keep us updated on the production side of things.

If a guy were to try marketing compensated bone nuts, would he run into trouble with the Earvana people?

Do they have patents on their product? Wouldn't they claim your bone nuts step on their rights?

I dont see how earvana could own the patent. The idea of some form of compensation in some area has been around for centuries. There have been plenty of designs, including buzz feintens system which im pretty sure inspired earvana. The idea of using shims to create offsets has been around since 98 (earliest example i can find). It no doubt goes back way before that. The guy who came up with the Lucy tuned guitar idea came about in 86 and the problem was apparent at the time of John Harrison.
