Wow, what a deal! If you got the bank go for it.

Apparently the 2nd Princeton amp is a failure too. I love the Princetons, but apparently I'm one of the few who do. I have the Princeton Recording amp with the built in attenuator and it is fantastic! It sold for about a grand but since nobody was buying it and it was on the verge of being discontinued, I was able to get one for about $700. After it was officially discontinued, it caused a feeding frenzy and then the leftovers sold for 1,400. Not sure what the Blue Book value is though.

Perhaps there will be a similar trend? It is worth investigating considering the amp technically costs $100. I'm seriously considering the tele pack, but not because of resale for the amp. Although the hot-rod strat isn't a big seller either, I think the amp is the weakest sale.

Hello CWPainter & All,

Thanks for that interseting link.
Many mfgr's are in discount mode.

As for the '62 Hot Rod, well a lot of you
know I love mine, a grand sounding Stratocaster.
Neck is large but just about anyone can adapt to it.

The Princeton another great product but with that
pricetag it's easy to loose interest in one. Often enough
folks seem to shell out a bit more cash for the DRRI.
Almost a no brainer with pricing so close.

Just my thoughts.

Cheers.

???? What makes you think the Princeton Recording Amp has been discontinued? It still shows on the Fender website and is available at all the big box stores.

That was surprising, thanks for bringing that to my attention.

I first heard of its discontinuation through some higher ups from Guitar Center. Then it completely disappeared for a while- it wasn't in stores or online. They were nearly impossible to find. Just before that, retailers were trying to get rid of them. Generally, that is the fate of a discontinued product so I was pretty sure that was the fate of the amp.
