I purchased a fender replacement neck from StewMac about 10 years ago. I use it about one year bought a new guitar and then stored it away. I have recently discovered the world of fender again and am wanting to build a guitar. I have my eye on a body from ebay...prblem is the neck is sharp in my hands. It is an older style with the truss rod at the heal of the neck and not the headstock. I want the edges to be rolled the way that my American strat is. It is a maple neck. Can I do the sanding myself? What about the frets...they are not beveled or whatever it is called the way that my American is...I will try and reply with some picks.[/img]

drucifer,

As far as the rolled edges go, it'll take a long tome to naturally get them to roll with lots of use. You may want to have a pro take a look at it, while it's there he can take care of the fret issue which is likely some sprout from being stored for so long and interacting with humidity changes. A little filing will take care of that.

I would also recommend that you have a full set up done on it, the tuners look to be locking sperzel's and you do not need to wind the strings at the post.

Aside form that it looks like a good neck.

X

You know, the winding of the posts never even crossed my mind. I don't even know why I did that? Hence, the lockng part hehe. I was kinda just hoping to take the edge off the neck a little. My American Fender is like butter in your hands....just want this one to be a little greasy hehehe Was really hoping to do a DIY on it. Thanks for all the help though.
