Might not be new information, but I just noticed that Guitar Center is listing the Highway 1 line for new low prices. The guitars (except the texas tele) are all $699 USD, even lower than they were before the price increase. The bases are going for $749-$799. I remember just recently there was another topic about another retailer selling highway one strats for a much lower price, but that turned out to be a limited sale. Does anyone know what these price drops are about? There's also the new rebate on the AM STD's. Is Fender moving towards lower prices?

Edit: MF has a whole Fender Price Drop Page.

There are rumours that this is a first step before being discontinued. $699 for a MIA Strat? God bless America...

They had better not discontinue them. They are probably the best value in the price range. The fact that the HWY1's aren't the only one's getting a price drop would suggest that they're here to stay a little longer.

Yeah, for the price you can't really go wrong. I always thought they were a good seller...

Somehow I think the whole getting-rid-of-the-HWY1 spiel is simply a rumour, nothing more.

I wouldn't be suprised. For a while it made sense, but now there's substantial evidence against it.

Saw two new HW1's at the local Fender dealer on clearance sale for $449 each with deluxe gig bag! I'm guessing they're gone now...

Yeah, if I hadn't already has two layaways there I'd have been tempted... I always recommend checking at the local "Mom & Pop" type dealer before buying from the big chains... you just never know what you'll find.

Awwwh man. Now G.A.S. is gonna get the best of me and I'm going to have to pick one up. I've always liked the Highway One. It just looks like a good workhorse strat. But do I NEED it?

I dont think there going away anytime soon. This is all buisness and after the increase I think sales took a bit of a hit,So what to do lets drop the prices on a few models and get people back in the stores.Just reenter this post and read what everyone wrote everyone is excited about the price drop and talking about picking one up.Now you have all those fathers taking there sons in for a highway1 and then he gets hit with do you play?Check out this -get the picture good for buisness and at this time good for a lot of players to save some cash. You have to take advantage of deals when they come because they dont last and to me this one seems good.
