It sure seems to be in the same way as a regular pickup,I just went and tried mine and it seems to move up and down.

Hey guys, I would love to know the same thing. I can't find anything from Fender on this. I'm going to email them and ask. The rest of the guitar needed a bit of setup so I can't imagine that the Roland pickup wouldn't. I find that the bass on some of the models is a little muddy, mainly the acoustic and HB settings.

Yes, it's adjustable. I had to raise my Roland pickup a bit for better bass tones with the acoustic models. The low E string sounded muted with the original setup.

Have you found any specs/directions on what the optimal height is?

No, I went by the trial by ear method. I found that raising the Roland pickup and slightly lowering the 6th string's saddle gave me the even tones across all six strings that I wanted.

From what I have determined by review of the tech specs for the Fender/Roland VG processor page; after setting up the correct neck curve, setting up the tremolo and nut if necessary, and adjusting all the string heights, Fender pickup heights, etc. -according to Fender Stratocaster specs.in the owners manual- then the Roland GK pickup should be set at .04" from the 1st and 6th strings with the string fretted at last fret. My VG was setup all wrong when I bought it. I made these corrections and all of the model voices greatly improved and American Standard pickup and Modeled Noiseless Ash Stratocaster volume levels matched up perfectly! Hope this helps.

Lloyd, .04". Is that right? That is just over 1mm. Hmmmm?

VOXAMPGUY,

I used feeler gauges for measuring the .04" to match the setup specs for the GK pickup height adjustment. This height is where the factory should have set the gain and volume adjustments. The closer-the-better; if it's too high of gain with the .04" you can raise the height until it sounds right. If you raise it too much you may get a dead string on some of the models.
Best of Luck.

You do mean that if the gain is too high, that I can lower the pickup until it sounds right, correct? Farther away should mean less volume.

Sorry for the confusion, yes lowering the GK pickup height to increase the distance from the strings is the correct way to decrease the gain level if the volume seems louder on the modeled stratocaster as compared to the normal stratocaster setting.

Lloyd.
