What is the difference between the Standard Ping tuning pegs on the Highway One series Strats and the Dekuxe tuning pegs on upper market Stratocasters?

The Highway 1 has Fender/Ping tunners. Some of the higher end models have the same ones, some have the vintage tunners, and some even have Fender/Schaller locking tunners.

The difference is personal choice. I changed the tunners of my Highway 1 to Fender/Schaller locking tuners. With those you do not have to wrap the string around the peg. Pull the string through, lock it down, tune, and snip the excess string off. These are a direct match and does not require any drilling. Basically a take of and put on deal. I love them.

The purpose is so there is less of a chance for string to slip on the peg which would require constant re-tuning.

My Squire Classic Vibe has the classic tunners on it and I like them too. Also less of a chance for the string to shift on the peg. In fact I rarely have to tune my guitars once the strings are properly stretched.

The Ping tuners on he HWY are the same as the tuners on the MIM Standards I can't think of any other American model using them at this time. Even the American Standard uses Fender Deluxe tuners that have staggerd tuning pegs.

Dont the vintage reissue guitars use them? The tuners on my baja tele are identical to my 57 hotrod. I too have the old type and locking tuners. I also have non locking staggered height tuners and wilkinson locking, staggered height tuners.
I find no difference in stability of tuning, its more down to how you care for your strings. How often you restring, and how you wind onto the peg.
Locking tuners are easier to use though.

Classic Player '60's...But that is the only one, and I am not even sure that is an American model. Most of the other "American made" have the Fender/Gotoh Vintage, Fender Deluxe Staggered, or the Fender/Schaller Locking tunners. Sorry I was generalizing. If you want to split hairs, you can go to the Fender website and check out each model and see for yourself which model has what.

I stand corrected once again by someone and rescind the "Some" to "One other" besides the Highway 1.

Again, my statement "The difference is a personal choice" stands firm.

You have listed the American Models tuners correctly and the Classic Players 60's is Mexican made.guitars.

That's a MIM? Wow I think I may have found one worth buying. No seriously, I wasn't sure if it was or wasn't made in America. And I know that MIM, MIA, KIJ, CIC, MIK guitars are all built well, you just have some bad lemmons in each batch. Thanks for the info. I have never seen a Classic '60's in the store so I was not sure.

I guess to answer the orginal question...the difference depends on which upper model you look at as to the difference to in the tunners.

I have Pings on my MIM Std, and I have another git with the MIA Std Pings. Other than the fact the MIA's are staggered, they seem to be exactly the same in quality and operation to me.

If you mean quality wise, they all seem most dependable to me. YMMV

I love Schallers the best. I dont change the tuners that come on my guitars and never have tuning problems but Schallers are just so fast ,easy and solid they spoil you.
