Hello Frantic,

Firstly welcome to the forum.

Beautiful green guitar you've got there.
I never owned one but have played a few,
The neck shape is pretty easy on my hands.
cautionary note: always unplug to save batteries.
Best of luck and thanks for the photos.

Cheers.

I didn't know the Lace sensors were an active pickup. I had a set of "Silvers" in my '89 that were passive. Was there some sort of active boost in the Clapton model in '89?

I own a Clapton, pewter gray metallic finish, that I just love! Just keep in mind that the battery for the active pickups should be checked and changed regularly. Leakage can ruin/destroy the wiring, I should know!
Enjoy that new guitar!

Aha! Did some checking on the '89 Clapton Strat. The battery is for the active mid boost, not the pickups. Gold Lace Sensors were passive pickups. I just saw one on ebay for 2G.

interesting note about LS pickups. (I consider myself very knowledgeable about them) on the clapton model, when coupled with the active mid-boost AND the TBX Tone Circuit installed in the second Tone knob, these pickups were able to perform at about 3x the usual output with no added feedback! I have owned three examples of the strat plus model with this equipment and I love tinkering with them finding how to boost their performance.

sorry, off-topic. Beautiful strat, friend! that is comparable to my Fender Custom Shop Blackie model (the regular version)

Interesting. Years ago I built on onboard preamp with an op amp IC for my '64 Duo Sonic (my first electric) to goose an early 60's Univox bass amp into overdrive. Hooked it up to my neighbor's ("Boogie Bodies" in Washington State, long gone I'm sure) two 412 Marshall cabs and I was in heaven.

And yes, that is a great looking guitar frantic.

Wow did you score on that. I dont know what you paid but the guitar looks close to mint .I have the newer noisless pickup model and I love it.You can pull so many tones from that guitar it is amazing. Here is a lil trivia for you when Clapton was asked to do his signature guitar that is the color he personaly wanted them to make 7 up green.
