Hello, I am trying to decide between a MIM Standard Strat, or a Deluxe Player Strat. Is there much difference between the two? I understand the pickups are American Made on the DLX, but is it that much better. I play mostly blues, and a little rock. A guy at Guitar Center said there is no point paying 200 extra for its pickups, because they are not worth it. Also, do you think either of these guitars would play well on a Hot Rod Deluxe? If anyone would like to tell me about their experience with either, I would appreciate it. Thanks!

Hello Asyal14,

They'll both sound great through a Hot Rod Deluxe.
My choice would be to spring for the Deluxe Players,
1mm wider neck at the nut, {which is the same a USA models}
sporting a 12" fretboard on an ash body. Nice med-jumbo frets.
As for the pickups,I like em alot but some don't, have a listen.
As for the gigbag, toss in the rubbish heap and get a hardshell case
Also a button switch for 7 different pickup combinations.
Not convinced yet go play em both for 10 minutes.
Best of luck with your choice.

Cheers.
