I wasnt going public, just vamping on the initial post. Sorry.

'S all right, man, no sweat. :D This project just shifted from "let's see if we can do something with this body" to "we HAVE to make this work!" That's all...

However, if I can resurrect that bod then it falls to you to fit a neck and hardware to it and make it live again, right? And then play the sucker!

NOW we're cooking...

Do you have any use for a couple of slabs of walnut taken from a old table?
I've got some kicking around waiting to be picked up at my mums. I was going to make a tele body out of it with a cohort.

Hell, yes! Have you seen what even a small piece of walnut costs, without a hint of burr about it?

However. One thing at a time. Let's see what we can do with this bod first...

Hey Ninja: that looks like an excellent method for discovering the location of your body seams:

Don't worry, I'll get that body up and running for you if you like! Sounds like a challenge, don't it? Send it over: I'll do you a nice ZZDoc Bruise-ocaster...

:D - C

First thing I said to myself after viewing Niki's resourcefulness for the problem of boredom was "I bet Ceri could deal with that Humpty-Dumpty". 8) 8)

Haha - yes, I thought that might catch your eye. I wouldn't put any money on that bet, though! I fancy last time round was child's play compared to this...

Meanwhile. Mr kineman karma just sacrificed his white Strat for our entertainment. Spectacular - if agonising.

Amazing how the toroiseshell effect has burnt right off the pickguard with the propane, isn't it?

Awww Niki!

You weren't supposed to get lighter fluid into the routings!

It's been years since I did the human torch routine, but a pickguard would have helped keep the burn to the non-routed area.

You live and learn mate. I wasnt going to risk a perfectly good pickguard and pickups though.

I wonder if it works any better with amps?

Thanks for the updating. The "final" result isn't very satisfying, is it?

I bet you were hoping for something like this Hendrix guitar:

Yes, that is the "real" thing. That was the first guitar that Hendrix burned.

It was recently on the auction block ... I didn't buy it!
I just saved its picture!

Orville is that the burnt strat that Frank Zappa had . I remember an article sometime back that Dweezil said he was putting it on the auction block.

Hi straycat113: since Orville doesn't seem to be around - no, that's not the Zappa Strat. It's another, claimed to be the first one Hendrix ever burned, at the Astoria in North London in March 1967. It apparently sat forgotten in the garage of Jimi's publicity manager, Tony Garland, for 41 years till it was "rediscovered" and put up for auction last September.

It sold for £280,000, which is around half a million dollars US. Sounds like a lot but it was in fact at the bottom of the estimated price range.

That auction was viewable live on the internet and we watched it here on the Forum. Forum user Stigall ran one thread about it and I ran another. Here's mine:

http://www.fender.com/community/forums/ ... oria+burnt

Other people on this present thread have demonstrated cheaper routes to the same end...

Cheers - C
