im really thinking of greasebucketing the lower section of a tbx control i've got. Its only a .1 and .02 uf cap wired across the terminals isnt it. Do you guys think. it give the tbx more of a treble cut/boost response?

Chet is correct did you did have the greasbucket circut taken out.

i dont think he did! why?

I have to find my spec sheets but the inductance of those two pickups are much different forget about compairing resistance. The magnets power and the wraps are much different and cause the coil induction to be different.
You ever wonder why pickups with the same resistance ratings can sound so different its because the the magnetic material the turns and density of them causes a difference in the action thats being induced in the coil.
The grease bucket was designed around the pickups installed, they also use the greasebucket in some basses as well with there pickups.

he asked me if i wanted him to change the circuts, should of said yes! do you know what effect it would have on sound? the neck pickup up is lovley and warm, but the issue seems to be with middle and bridge! but cant put my finger on whats wrong with it, just know something isnt quite right. if i playing them over a blues backing track the tone seems really forieghn and harsh, really hard to explain! bit gutted really, trying to get hold of the bloke now.
with the rattling, do you think it could be the new locking tuners? its really harsh, u can hear it over the amp, like a double stop or chord is just rattle! but i know how nice this guitar can be set up, he did a great job last time after a less skilled tech ruined it! if it is ill just put stock tuners back on!
im so gutted, ive just spent £170 up grading my guitar, and it seems to be worse! this sort of thing always happen to me, dont why i didnt just leave it as it is! hope he can make it good again!
thanks for your help! it really is appreciated! :P

Louis why not keep the neck pickups control as a greasebucket and the bridge/middle as a regular tone control. Best of both worlds then by the sounds of it.
As for the rattling is the amp doing it with other guitars? If not all you can do is tap around the guitar and listen for where it could be coming from.
I'd suspect that the tech has stripped too much wire from one of the pickups and thats causing the noise. It sounds like a bad wiring clunk from your description.
Where are you?

hi nikninja,
yeah thats a good idea will suggest that to him! ive listened and the rattle noise is coming from the neck where its being freted, if it was tuners would it come from the tuners? im in norfolk!
thanks for your help!

fret area??? doesnt sound good mate. Its unlikely to be the tuners if the rattle is coming from the frets.
User AdrianDavid is round your end of the country. He may be able to suggest somewhere good. Unfortunately I'm a bit north in the south lincolnshire area. If your passing your more than welcome to pop in and i'll take a look. Other than that hold out for AdrianDavid to get back to you with his shop suggestion. He had a bit of trouble with his malmsteen that soon got rectified.

i believe the greasebucket circuitry is only in the bridge, and the mid pu is
tone set at 10.
you may need to take it back, to repair it.

the bloke i go to is actually really good. i got told about him by a number of different people, and last time he set my guitar up it was amazing, just how i was told it should be if done properly! so will take it back to him! im sure its just an over sight! hes a strat man through and through, hes got 20 odd customshop strats! and hes well regarded down here! really pleased i found him! so im sure he will fix it for me, just dont want to annoy him! but i will contact that bloke because its good to know other good places!
im thinking i really need to try and learn how to do this stuff my self! can you recomend any good fender/strat guide books or anything?
thanks again

I really wish to see real photos of one. Because I don't know if I'm gonna be disapointed with the colour :?

One of my Strats is an '05 Hwy 1 in Honey Blonde. I've swapped the pups out for CS69s too. I don't have a great picture of it, but you can see it here :

Not really Jay. I having spent a bit of time pondering am starting to wonder if the truss has been loosened too much.
If the strings are hitting the pickups that could cause it.

If that were the case then it would be the G and D poles most likely because they are the highest set ones. But when you put new pickips in they should reset them to bring in the desired sound.
