Hi all, I've recently changed strings on my Highway One Strat. It had light gauge (.009's, etc.) with bullet ends and my bridge was setup to float a bit. But I've changed the strings to Fender pure nickel wound same gauge (.009's) but with ball ends. Now my bridge seems to be over floating and leaving a larger space between fretboard and strings. Is it because I have to let the strings strecth awhile yet? Or is it because of something else?

The bridge floats due to a balance of tensions. I'm not guitar tech, but it seems like the string tension is more, the bridge will float more. It's like the truss rod, which also is impacted by string tension. So, if you put 10s on instead of 9s, then you're putting a higher tension on the bridge which would change the balance and lift the bridge. Your new strings might have increased the tension on the bridge. The screws in the back of the guitar nearby the trem springs adjust the bridge to the height you want. Screwing the screws in lowers the bridge.
