Fender has a background pick of some Fender Standard Strat Satin. I've never seen them in person. I'd love to try one though because they look awesome. I don't think they sell them. Must not of been popular back in the day...

Don't know how I missed this one.
The color is indeed "Purple Metalic".
Fender only offered this color on American Standard Guitars and Basses from 1997 to 1999. :D

cool finish. Not my cup of tea, but very cool. Its nice to have something different. I believe Robert Cray Signature strat has some kind of purple color available...

I Also just acquired a 1999 Mexican Strat last year, and in the darkness of the studio, it looked black to me for the first 6 months, then I noticed that it was actually this strange dark purple.
I also could not find the colour on any of the charts, however on the wiring diagrams for this model it has a reference to the colour code, and it confirmed it is called "Purple Metallic "

Here's the diagram pdf link:
http://support.fender.com/service_diagr ... C_SISD.pdf

The Colour ref. is 0026092593 "Purple Metallic"

Please let me know if I'm wrong. This is an enlightening day as the purple question has also plagued myself and my guitar enthusiast buddies, we assumed it was a custom shop deal.
