so i was looking around in the local music shops today and i see this stratocaster in a violin shop. i pick it up and examine it, but i cant figure out what model strat it is. its older, has a black pickgaurd and white knobs and tremolo, and rosewood neck. it has a jumbo style headstock and the serial number is on the front. i was looking on the back and it said "california" where the neck is bolted to the body. does anyone have a clue what model this strat is?

:? The jumbo headstock leads me to believe it's a Highway One, but I'm not sure if the serial's are on the front of those.

Next time you're in there I suppose you should ask.

The Highway One's do have the 70's style logo. The N as the first letter of the serial number is odd. Usually N means it was made in the 90's. Does anyone know the first year Highway One's were introduced???

Quoting the wipkipedia.org Stratocaster entry -
Quote:
The Highway-1 series, originally introduced in 2004 and re-designed in 2007, is a concept based around bridging the pricepoints of the Standard and American Series instruments, and also offering an affordable "reissue" meant to resemble Strats from the 60's and 70's.
