You'll love it! Case depends on where you bought it. I recommend taking it to your local shop and have them block the tremelo.

In other words, disable the whammy.

but if you use the whammy (aka tremolo etc.) don't block it (that's kinda obvious though) i'd leave it unblocked until you figure out if you like it or you'll use it. blocking it increases sustain and tuning stability. it's a matter of personal choice.

also if you do like the whammy, putting locking tuners on the guitar will help with tuning stability.

I recommend not putting locking tuners on it and leaving it as standard as possible. The only alterations I've done to mine, is lowered action, pickup covers & trem block. I can play any style I want to with great sustain and a lasting tune.

Yes, when you take it to a pro, by blocking the trem if you do will lower the action. Play it after they block it. I'm pretty sure you'll feel a noticable difference and if you want it lowered more, hand it back and wait. I didn't regret gettng mine setup this way by the good people of what was Yarboroughs Music in Memphis, TN.

The American Standards are awesome. I have a 2006 American Standard Ash Strat. It stays in tune well. I also have a friend who is a professional musician and he has commented several times on the wonderul tone of my guitar. Would recommend!

Pay no mind to all that talk of trem blocking, tuners or any other mods for now. It's a strat, buy it for what it is. In the future ,when you really know yer guitar you can think about mods.
