I just got tickets to see Dick Dale in August. His son, Jimmy Dale, is also performing with him. Since I just started learning surf stuff, I'm really looking forward to the show... I'm glad to see he's touring again after his bout with cancer.. Now, if I can just get him to autograph a Strat for me after the show...

He's very approachable, and will sign your guitar and talk your ear off...about himself, of course-ana always in third person. Here's how the conversation will go...

OG101: Mr. Dale, would you sign my Strat??
DD: Sure! (takes guitar and looks at it) WHERE are the STRINGS on this thing?!?!?!?!? You know what kind of strings Dick Dale uses?? .016, .020...." (up to, I think, .060)

It should be a lot of fun. Enjoy! He wrote "To Bob. Keep Playing. Dick Dale" and the date. I took the pickguard off, as I did a lousy job with polycoating it on. Despite his pro-wrestling level boasting, he's very likable and does back it up.
